Breakout Players (Names to Watch out for)

Whether they sat behind a star player, red-shirted, or things just haven't clicked there are many players who take a little bit longer to make their impact.  Here are the five players that you may not know about now, but will know pretty well by the end of the season.

Mario Edwards DE Florida State
Edwards battled with Dorial Green-Beckum for the top player in the 2012 recruiting class and was a big time get for Jimbo Fisher in his quest to rebuild Florida State.  However Edwards didn't come in ready to go in fall camp and got stuck behind Bjoern Werner, Cornellius Carradine, and Brandon Jenkins.

The good thing for Edwards is that a year in the program he is finally ready to go physically.  Add in that Werner, Carradine, and Jenkins are all gone to the NFL he is poised to take over as the top rusher and show off the skills that made him the top player in his class.

Noah Spence DE Ohio State
Only behind Mario Edwards as a defensive prospect, big things were expected from Spence in his first year at Ohio State.  He wasn't expected to come in and dominate from day one.  However using him as a pass rushing specialist seemed like a given.  That didn't happen.  Spence didn't redshirt, but he might as well have with only 7 total tackles and one sack.

Ohio State's best pass rusher John Simon is gone and they'll be looking for somebody to replace his production.  No better than Spence to come in and make his mark.  Have a year in the program will bring some knowledge and skill to go with his speed and athleticism he has.

Matt Jones RB Florida
With the emergence of Mike Gillislee that left little room for anybody else to make their mark.   This caused Jones to get little chances to really make his mark and lead him to only 275 yards and three touch downs.

Will Gillislee in the NFL they'll need Jones to step into that role and the the tough yards to take the pressure off Jeff Driskel and the rest of the Gator offense.  Jones is a big back weighing in at 6'2 and over 230lbs.  But what Jones has that Gillislee didn't have is speed.  His 4.44 speed has the makings of a complete back who can take the punishment of SEC play.  If he can reach his potential the Gator offense could take that big step that they need to get back to the SEC Title Game.
