1. Alabama Crimson Tide (8-0) LW 1
The Crimson Tide get their final bye week of the year and it comes at a great time with LSU in town next weekend. This is a huge game because Alabama has dropped home games the past two years. The problem is they won't be able to get back to the Title game if they do so.
2. Oregon Ducks (8-0) LW 2
With them traveling to Stanford next Thursday, the Ducks have the weekend off to avoid a short prep week. That was a wise move since their hopes of a National Title will come down to that game. Last year they lost at home and are hoping to return the favor this year.
3. Florida State Seminoles (8-0) LW 3
In their two toughest games of the year the Seminoles have dominated. Everybody has talked about Jameis Winston and his performance this year, but Devonta Freeman also deserves some credit. His 78 yards and two touchdowns were very key.
4. Ohio State Buckeyes (8-0) LW 4
Last year Purdue almost ended the Buckeye's perfect season, this year it wasn't even close. Ohio State cruised to a 56-0 victory that was as dominant as any this season. It should be easily sailing for the Buckeye's as they won't play another ranked team till maybe the Big 10 Title Game.
5. Baylor Bears (7-0) LW 5
It's too bad that Baylor's game against Oklahoma wasn't this past weekend because it easily would have been the top game (sorry FSU and Miami). But it should be fun to finally see the Bears play somebody that is considered good. Too bad it's the Sooners could even though will be the dog, could easily win.
6. Stanford Cardinal (7-1) LW 6
Just like their upcoming Thursday night opponent Oregon, the Cardinal have the weekend off to avoid a short week. Stanford's loss to Utah was big, but a win against Oregon puts them in position to be the top one loss team. They just have to hope enough teams lose to sneak them in.
7. Auburn Tigers (8-1) LW 8
With starting QB Nick Marshall out of the Tigers needed somebody to step up. Here it was RB Tre Mason whose 168 yards and four touchdowns helped pace Auburn through Arkansas. Auburn continues their out of nowhere season and it should continue till their final two games against Georgia and Alabama.
8. Clemson Tigers (8-1) LW 9
Not only does the Tigers 59-10 win over Virgina improve their record to 8-1 but it also allowed QB Tajh Boyd to set the ACC career passing touchdown record beating out Phillip Rivers' record of 112. It's also nice since Boyd is from Virginia and did it in him home state.
9. LSU Tigers (7-2) LW 10
It's a theme this week. Several top teams have the weekend off in preparation of next week's big game. For the Tigers its their showdown with rival Alabama. LSU has a great opportunity to play spoiler for the Crimson Tide's National Title hopes with an upset win. Can they be the third team to beat Alabama at home?
10. Missouri Tigers (8-1) LW 11
Missouri could have easily hung their heads after the loss to South Carolina, but they bounced back and got the win over a Tennessee team that has a few upsets under their belts. QB Maty Mauk continues to impress and has the Tigers momentum back.
11. Texas A&M Aggies (7-2) LW 12
The Johnny Manziel show continued this past Saturday with a six touchdown performance against UTEP. I did find it ironic that the game after Kevin Sumlin talked about Mike Evans being up for the Heisman they only get him 4 catches for 46 yards.
12. Oklahoma Sooners (7-1) LW 17
I feel like a broken record here. Huge game on Thursday, bye week this week to avoid short prep week. With everybody talking about Baylor and how good they are, let's still not overlook the Sooners who have controlled the Big 12 for many years.
13. South Carolina Gamecocks (7-2) LW 13
In their victory of Mississippi State it looked like the Gamecocks defense might be back to it's old ways. Or was it because they played Mississippi State? Either way South Carolina got another win and keep their hopes of an SEC Title Game alive.
14. Michigan State Spartans (8-1) LW 19
For weeks we've talked about how bad the Big 10 is outside of Ohio State. But quietly the Spartans have been sneaking into the discussion. It helps that the offense is starting to get some new life and can take the pressure off their elite defense.
15. Fresno State Bulldogs (8-0) LW 14
Fresno State wins yet another game, but did anybody else notice. Or care? The Bulldogs remain undefeated, but the Mountain West is down which doesn't help their case. Their Wyoming game this week should be fun shoot out to watch.
16. Central Florida Knights (6-1) LW 15
It's been quite the season for the Knights. Beating Penn State and Louisville and narrowly losing out to South Carolina. Along with being in the American Athletic Conference, Central Florida could finally be moving out of that sleeping giant category into a yearly player.
17. Miami Hurricanes (7-1) LW 7
If losing big to Florida State was not bad enough, the Hurricanes also lost their star running back Duke Johnson for the rest of the year with a broken ankle. The loss also exposes the Hurricanes as an overrated team. Sure they have one loss, but who have they played?
18. UCLA Bruins (6-2) LW 16
Finally the Bruins get a break from their daunting two game stretch against Stanford and Oregon. The Bruins were able to bounce back and get a much needed win over Colorado. The Bruins can't hang their heads because they still have a rematch coming up in the Pac 12 Title Game.
19. Oklahoma State Cowboys (7-1) LW 18
What a big win for the Cowboys who needed some validation points, especially after losing to West Virginia earlier in the year. Not only did the Cowboys knock off Texas Tech, they dominated the Red Raiders. A great win for a team still contending for the Big 12 Title.
20. Wisconsin Badgers (6-2) LW 21
The Badgers used a 21-3 second half advantage to pull away from Iowa to get the win. With all the talk of Melvin Gordan, it was RB James White who did most of the damage rushing for 132 yards and two scores. Their game against BYU this Saturday should be fun to watch.
21. Louisville Cardinals (7-1) LW 22
Not a whole lot to say here. Louisville has the weekend off before their huge match up with UConn. Oh wait, they don't have any big games coming up. Houston could be, but they almost lost to South Florida this past weekend. Maybe Cincinnati, but that's a stretch.
22. Brigham Young Cougars (6-2) LW 23
BYU has been quite the story since their two early losses and are now playing like one of the better teams in the country. They have a bye week here but it comes at a great time as they travel to Wisconsin this weekend. The extra prep work could help score the upset.
23. Notre Dame Fighting Irish (7-2) LW NR
It took a goal line stand to get a win over Navy, but sometimes just getting the win is all that matters. Notre Dame hasn't been pretty this year, but they keep hammering out wins while victory over Michigan State continues to look better and better.
24. Northern Illinois Huskies (9-0) LW 25
Not much has changed for Northern Illinois. Their only tough opponent so far has been Iowa and they will finish in last place in their division. Their perception could change when they play Ball State in a week from Wednesday.
25. Arizona State Sun Devils (6-2) LW NR
The Sun Devils have been in and out of the rankings all year but they've won three straight since their loss to Notre Dame. Their third win comes with a dominating win over Washington State late Thursday night. But they should beware of Utah this weekend who have already knocked off Stanford at home.
Dropped Out: Texas Tech Red Raiders, Michigan Wolverines
