Top 25 (Week 1)

1. Alabama Crimson Tide (1-0) LW 1
It wasn't a dominating game like we've seen out of the Crimson Tide the past couple of openers.  However they're still Alabama and they still look like the best team in the nation.  This game they just used their special teams to set the tone.  They'll be off next week, but when they return we'll see if they can get revenge on A&M from last year.

2. Oregon Ducks (1-0) LW 2
Pretty ho hum for the Ducks considering they played FCS Nichols State.  The Ducks cruised to a 66 to 3, so things look the same, but we really won't know what they'll be like without Chip Kelly till they get into the heart of the Pac 12 schedule.  In the meantime we'll see them dominate their weak non-conference schedule.

3. Clemson Tigers (1-0) LW 6
What a win for the Tigers.  They've always been a big flirt.  Ton of talent and looking like they could break out, but never do.  This year could be different.  Senior QB Tajh Boyd was the star of their win over Georgia.  His 5 TDs were huge in winning the game.  Now they just have to make sure they don't let up till that Florida State game or this win means nothing.

4. Louisville Cardinals (1-0) LW 5
With Louisville having such a weak schedule their chances of getting to the National Championship Game will be an uphill climb.  They'll need a need to go undefeated and have other teams beat up on each other.  But if they keep playing like they did against Ohio, they may force voters to put them in there.  Teddy Bridgewater looked like he was throwing darts and the defense held a solid Ohio squad to only seven points.

5. Stanford Cardinal (0-0) LW 7
Stanford was the only top 25 team that didn't play this year.  But they still move up because other teams just didn't look good.  The Cardinal will start their season off against San Jose State which will give them a match up against one of the top QBs in the nation in David Fales.

6. Florida State Seminoles (1-0) LW 9
There was a lot of hype surrounding Jameis Winston going into this game and he didn't disappoint in the slightest. Winston lead the Seminoles to an easy 41-13 win and did it in a near flawless showing. He completed 93% of his passes for 356 yards and 4 TDs. Pair him up with a talented defense and the Seminoles are right in the thick of the National Title picture.

7. South Carolina Gamecocks (1-0) LW 10
The Gamecocks proved a lot of doubters wrong with a strong showing in their opener.  What impressed me the most was their defense shutting down a quality North Carolina offense and only giving up 10 points.  And they did it without Clowney playing like himself.  But that won't matter because if they keep getting games like that from Mike Davis (115 rushing yards) then it won't matter.

8. Ohio State Buckeyes (1-0) LW 3
For a second straight year the Buckeyes have struggled against weak non conference opponents.  They should have throttled Buffalo and instead let them hang around too long.  They should be fine, but you really have to wonder how good this team really is.  Has their defense improved enough?  Have they found any weapons for Braxton Miller?  I'm not too sure.

9. Texas A&M Aggies (1-0) LW 4
To say that A&M had a crazy weekend is an understatement.  First you had Manziel sitting out the first half and then right before their game they suspended four defensive starters.  Add in that they didn't look too sharp and Manziel going taunt happy it really questions the maturity of this team.  Is this a one game misstep or are they going to struggle to handle the limelight?

10. Notre Dame Fighting Irish (1-0) LW 11
Temple isn't a very good team, so to let them hang around and only win by 21 points doesn't project a lot of confidence in the Fighting Irish.  QB Tommy Rees showed that he still hasn't improved much which doesn't project well since Golson is gone.  The former National runner ups could have a long season if they don't get it figured out.

11. Georgia Bulldogs (0-1) LW 8
It was a thrilling game, but the Bulldogs just couldn't overcome Clemson in the final minutes to get out with the win.  They should be fine with QB Aaron Murray and RB Todd Gurely leading the offense.  But losing all that talent on defense really showed up against the Tigers.  They'll need guys to step up, or it could be a third place finish in the SEC East.

12.  LSU Tigers (1-0) LW 14
It's amazing what a good coach can do.  QB Zach Mettenberger looked last year, but now under new offensive coordinator Cam Cameron he's a different QB.  He was poised putting up 251 yards and a TD against a very good TCU defense.  We know that the defense will always be good, but if Mettenberger can keep this up, they should give Alabama a run for their money.

13. UCLA Bruins (1-0) LW 12
Continuing their momentum from last year, the Bruins pulled away from Nevada to cruise to an easy 58-20 win.  Brett Hundley dominated the game going for 337 yards and 4 TDs.  They take a week off before a huge match up with Nebraska in two weeks which should really tell us how good they are.

14. Florida Gators (1-0) LW 13
The Gators were another SEC team that had to suspend several players before the game which actually called for some to pick Toledo in the upset.  Now Florida got the win, but it wasn't pretty.  They struggled against the Rockets and you have to really wonder how good they are.  The offense just isn't very explosive and you wonder if they can score when they need to.  Especially with an explosive Miami offense next week.

15. Miami Hurricanes (1-0) LW 21
Not only did the Hurricanes get off a good start to the season, but a star might have been born in RB Duke Johnson.  With over 200 yards of total offense, Johnson has thrust himself into the early Heisman Watch and as a player that is really going to make this offense work.  It was just a win over FAU, but the Hurricanes look like the top team in the Coastal Division.

16. Oklahoma State Cowboys (1-0) LW NR
Hope you didnt' have the overs in their game against Mississippi State or you probably lost your money. The normally high scoring Cowboys were held to only 21 points, but were still able to get out win a big win over an SEC foe. Too bad that Miss State isn't going to be very good this year. Better hope the Cowboys aren't going to stay in an offensive fluke since they'll be on their third offensive coordinator in four years.

17. Michigan Wolverines (1-0) LW 20
Unlike most teams in the Big 10, the Wolverines made quick work of their MAC foe and cruised to an easy 50 point win. There are big questions whether Michigan is ready to compete for the conference title, but with the dominant performance they had, those naysayers may be few and far between.

18. Nebraska Cornhuskers (1-0) LW 15
Just when you thought Nebraska was ready to pull away from Wyoming, they threw a pick and ended up surviving with a three point. What makes matters worse is that the defense gave up over 500 yards for a third straight game. If they can't get that fixed, it won't matter how good their offense is, they'll lose games. It could be a long season in Lincoln.

19. Texas Longhorns (1-0) LW 18
It's amazing that the Longhorns switched back to a spread offense and they had no trouble scoring. You have to wonder what took them so long. But it was New Mexico State, so let's temper our excitement. Now some people have Texas in their top 10, but I want to wait and see how they do against BYU and Ole Miss. We'll get a real sense of how good they are after those two.

20. Oklahoma Sooners (1-0) LW 22
Oklahoma was on upset watch against Louisiana-Monroe. The Warhawks knocked off Arkansas last year and almost did it to Auburn and Baylor. With Oklahoma replacing key people, they were primed for an upset. Instead the Sooners defense suffocated the Warhawks and the offense put up 34 points. Let's see if they can do that again against a better offense in West Virginia.

21. Cincinnati Bearcats (1-0) LW 23
Under new head coach Tommy Tuberville the Bearcats gave Purdue their worst home loss in school history. The 42-7 game was never in doubt and with QB Muncie Legaux throwing and running for scores. The Bearcats Big 10 tour continues this week as they face off against an Illinois team that looks to have found their offense. Should be a good one.

22. Northwestern Wildcats (-) LW 24
The Wildcats may have escaped their trip west with a 14 point win over California, but the real damage was to offensive weapon Cain Kolter who left the game early with a concussion. Northwestern still has talent on their offense, but without the dynamic Kolter who plays both QB and WR, they are a lot more predictable. Let's home he's fine.

23. Fresno State Bulldogs (1-0) LW NR
If it wasn't for Rutgers going for a 2 point conversion and win in overtime, they could still be playing. But in all seriousness the Bulldogs survived and got out with the win. Rutgers isn't a great team, but Fresno showed they have what it takes to be a major player in the Mountain West. Especially with Boise State looking down.

24. Northern Illinois Huskies (1-0) LW 17
Sure Northern Illinois beat Iowa and avenged their loss from last year. But it took a interception late in the game to set up their go ahead field goal. The Huskies want to get back to a BCS Bowl, but if they keep playing like they did to a bad Iowa team, then they'll probably get knocked off at some point during conference play. But part of that could be their third head coach in three years.

25. North Carolina Tar Heels (0-1) LW 16
They had a prime chance to make an early statement in their opening game against South Carolina, but the offense just couldn't get things going.  They were held to only 10 points and just never seemed comfortable.  Luckily for them it's still early and they still have a shot to win Coastal Division, but that looks a lot harder now.

Dropped Out:  Boise State Broncos, Louisiana Lafayette Ragin Cajuns
