Bowl Preview (Jan 1 Games)

Nebraska Cornhuskers vs Georgia Bulldogs
This is a rematch of last years Capital One Bowl where the Bulldogs won 45-31.  Both teams had high expectations going into the year but injuries crippled both squads.  Both teams should be close to 100% with the exception of the two starting QBs.  Defense will be the key here.  If Georgia can force turnovers they'll win.  If Nebraska can slow the Bulldogs two elite backs they'll likely win.
Prediction:  Nebraska 26 Georgia 21

UNLV Runnin' Rebels vs North Texas Mean Green
Both teams are back to being bowl eligible after many years of mediocrity (both teams combined to win six games last year), but that doesn't mean we will be getting that great of a game.  However it should be interesting to see how UNLV's improved offense can do against the Sun Belt's best defense.  Often times in games like this a special teams play can make the difference and North Texas has a gem in Brelan Chancellor.  Add that to this being practically a home game for North Texas, I think we'll see the Runnin' Rebels perfect bowl record broken this year.
Prediction:  UNLV 24 North Texas 31

Iowa Hawkeyes vs LSU Tigers
With both teams bringing good defenses and lackluster offenses to the game, don't expect a high scoring affair.  This is especially true since LSU QB Zach Mettenberger is out with an ACL injury.  This could favor the Hawkeyes who don't have a lot of explosive athletes and would rather slug it out with you.  It's important for the Tigers to get the ball two their two playmakers at WR and hope they can make plays.  I think the Tigers can out athlete the Hawkeyes enough to get the win.
Prediction:  Iowa 13 LSU 14

Wisconsin Badgers vs South Carolina Gamecocks
Easily the best game on this day and could easily be one of the best match ups outside the BCS Bowls. Until a loss to Penn State the Badgers were playing like one of the best teams in the nation while South Carolina salvaged their season after some early season struggles.  It should be fun to see Wisconsin's 8th ranked power rushing attack against a Gamecock defense full of good athletes.  This could also be a game where Jadeveon Clowney turns it on and gets some of his buzz back.  The Gamecocks should put up a fight, but chalk one up for the Big 10 in this game.
Prediction:  Wisconsin 27 South Carolina 17
