1. Tajh Boyd QB Clemson
Last Week: 17/24 311 yards 3 TDs, 69 yards rushing 1 TD vs Wake Forrest (56-7) Next Week: at Syracuse
Summary: Yeah it was only against Wake Forrest, but Boyd got the big game he really needed to stay atop the watch. His 380 total yards and 4 TDs helped route an over matched Deamon Decan team and got the Tigers offense back on track after last weekends so so performance. Boyd has one more easy game against Syracuse this weekend before the big game against Florida State which could either solidify him in first place or have him falling down the list.
2. Marcus Mariota QB Oregon
Last Week: 11/24 114 yards 2 TDs, 33 yards rushing 1 TD at California (55-16) Next Week: at Colorado
Summary: Mariota has been nipping at Boyd's heals for quite some time and just when I think he may finally move up to first place, he has a sub par day and Boyd gets back into his groove. Doesn't help that Oregon just steam rolled California early and Mariota didn't see much action in the second half. However the game against Colorado should allow him to put up some numbers before Oregon and Mariota go toe to toe with the Pac 12 elite.
3. Johnny Manziel QB Texas A&M
Last Week: 23/30 261 yards 2 TDs, 59 yards rushing vs Arkansas (45-33) Next Week: BYE
Summary: With the lack of defense that is being played by the Aggies, they'll need Manziel to continue to put up huge numbers just so they can continue to win. This week it took 320 total yards and two touchdowns to put away a pesky Arkansas squad that was looking for an upset. That play has Manziel continuing to climb up the board. And who knows, if Manziel keeps playing at this high level and the Aggies win out we could see him give a legit run at winning back to back Heisman's.
4. Teddy Bridgewater QB Louisville
Last Week: BYE Next Week: at Temple
Summary: An off weekend for Bridgewater and the Cardinals who have rolled through the first quarter of their season. In those four games Bridgewater has completed 72% of his passes for 1,214 yards and 14 touchdowns. Those aren't bad stats, but nothing you'd expect when your blowing out the competition. This next weekend he'll have a shot to rack them up against Temple. However another lackluster performance and we could see Bridgewater out of the Heisman Race. He really needs a huge statistical game against Temple and a big win over Rutgers. But people may be already forgetting about him.
Last Week: 73 yards rushing vs LSU (44-41) Next Week: at Tennessee
Summary: He didn't have a huge day against LSU in the Bulldogs win, but that was due to an injury suffered in the second quarter that kept him out the rest of the game. Before he left Gurley rushed for 73 yards and was gashing the Tiger defense. Gurley has been playing like a man this year and even had 154 yards in their loss to Clemson. I may be a little late on the Gurley train, but he's has a great shot at climbing up the board in a hurry.
