It wasn't an impressive blowout of in state rival Florida (37-7), but they were able to get out with a win and can now move on to the ACC Title Game. They'll face off against Duke which should allow them an easy route to the National Title Game.
2. Ohio State Buckeyes (12-0) LW 3
The easy thing to do would be to jump Auburn to the number two spot. They just knocked off Alabama and only have one loss. Ohio State hasn't really beaten anybody and almost got beat by a seven win Michigan team. However you do have to give OSU credit for going undefeated two straight years. That's why they are here.
3. Auburn Tigers (11-1) LW 6
The kings of miracle wins got another one in knocking off hated rival Alabama. Their last second 109 yard field goal returned for a touchdown clinched the SEC West Title and puts them in position to win the SEC next weekend against Missouri. Beating Missouri could allow them to jump Ohio State.
4. Missouri Tigers (11-1) LW 4
In a battle of old Big 12 teams the Tigers were able to get out with a win that gave them the SEC East Title in only their second season in the league. The difference in this game was Missouri's 14 point third quarter that enabled them to take the lead and hold on.
5. Alabama Crimson Tide (11-1) LW 1
What a crushing loss. Looking to go to overtime, one second was added and that allowed the Tide to try a long field goal. If it would have gone one yard longer and Alabama may have pulled it out in overtime. Now their shot at the National Title is gone.
6. Baylor Bears (10-1) LW 5
After dropping their first game of the year last week the Bears almost made it two in a row, but were able to hold off TCU's late rally to get their tenth win of the year. Baylor still has a shot to win the Big 12, but they'll need to beat Texas and have Oklahoma beat Oklahoma State.
7. Michigan State Spartans (11-1) LW 8
Teams this year are finding that Minnesota is no easy game. It was the Spartans that saw that first hand this week getting out with a 14-3 win which gives gives them a perfect conference slate. They now go into the Big 10 Title Game looking to play upset against Ohio State and get back to the Rose Bowl.
8. Oklahoma State Cowboys (10-1) LW 9
With no Big 12 Title Game, the Cowboys have the weekend off to help prepare for Bedlam against in state rival Oklahoma. For the Cowboys a win will get them the Big 12 Conference Championship for the second time in three years.
9. South Carolina Gamecocks (10-2) LW 13
For a fifth straight year the Gamecocks beat their in state rival and ended their season on a high note. They still had a shot at the SEC East Title, but Missouri's win negated that. The biggest bummer is that Alabama's loss ends the Gamecocks shot at an at-large BCS berth. Looks like it's a Capital One Bowl now.
10. Stanford Cardinal (10-2) LW 10
Stanford's defense clamped down in the fourth quarter shutting out the Irish and preserving the win. The win gives the Cardinal their fourth straight ten win season. Stanford now moves on to the Pac 12 Title game against a surging Arizona State team that will really test this defense.
11. Arizona State Sun Devils (10-2) LW 14
A thirty point first half got the Sun Devils off to a great start over Arizona, and they never looked back. The Sun Devils now get to host the Pac 12 Title game against Stanford in a game that they could easily win and get to the Rose Bowl for the first time since Jake Plummer was leading the team.
12. Oregon Ducks (10-2) LW 12
It took a Marcus Mariota touchdown pass with 12 seconds left in the game to get a win over in state rival Oregon State. It's been a disappointing season for the Ducks with two losses and no conference title, losing to the Beavers would have made it even worse.
13. Clemson Tigers (10-2) LW 7
For whatever reason, the Gamecocks just have the Tigers number. Clemson looking to get back to a BCS Bowl may have had their dreams dashed with the loss. Clemson is one of the elite teams in the ACC, but they sure do have trouble beating the top teams.
14. Oklahoma Sooners (9-2) LW 15
No game for the Sooners this weekend with Bedlam against Oklahoma State coming up next Saturday. Even with no chance at the conference title, the Sooners can play spoiler and knock their in state rival out of the Big 12 race. That and implications on a better bowl game and in recruiting.
15. LSU Tigers (9-3) LW 16
Down three points in the fourth quarter and without QB Zach Mettenberger it looked like the Tigers were on the verge of a nasty upset. Instead freshman Anthony Jennings lead the Tigers 99 yards and a touchdown to escape with the victory. The win also preserves the Tigers chances of another 10 win season.
16. Central Florida Knights (10-1) LW 18
A late passing touchdown by QB Blake Bortles gave UCF the 23-20 lead and the Knights were able to hold on and get another win. The win clinches at least a share of the first American Athletic Conference Championship. All UCF has to do then is beat a lowly SMU team and they are BCS bound.
17. Wisconsin Badgers (9-3) LW 11
With a chance at a BCS at large bid in their grasps they just couldn't close the deal. Penn State jumped on the Badgers early and didn't let up. But the future is bright in Madison with Gary Anderson keeping the trail rolling. Watch out for this team next year.
18. UCLA Bruins (9-3) LW 20
Even though the Bruins didn't win the Pac 12 South this has been a big season for them. For a Bruin team that usually is all hype and no substance their future is pointed in the right direction. They beat USC this past weekend in a game that they would normally lose.
19. Louisville Cardinals (10-1) LW 22
No game for the Cardinals this week as they get ready for a Cincinnati team that is sitting right outside the top 25. Even though they have just one loss they seem like a non-AQ school more than a BCS conference team. Probably because the American Athletic Conference is so weak this year.
20. Northern Illinois Huskies (12-0) LW 23
QB Jordan Lynch's 321 yards rushing broke his own record for most yards rushing by a quarterback in NCAA history. In route to breaking that record the Huskies for a second straight season go undefeated. A win in the MAC Title Game could also mean a second straight BCS Bowl.
21. Fresno State Bulldogs (10-1) LW 17
For a team that has one of the highest scoring offenses in the nation, they just didn't have enough to get past San Jose State. The loss ends their perfect season and their shot at a BCS Bowl. They do need to regroup because they'll host Utah State for the Mountain West Title this weekend.
Their 27-25 victory over in state rival North Carolina not only gave them ten wins on the season, but clinched their spot in the ACC Title Game. No we aren't talking about basketball, this is Duke FOOTBALL. What a season they've had.
23. Texas A&M Aggies (8-4) LW 19
Even though they lost to Missouri giving them four losses on the year, the Aggies have to feel like winners. Mainly because head coach Kevin Sumlin agreed to a contract extension keeping him in College Station for years to come. The future is very bright.
24. USC Trojans (9-4) LW 21
They did lose, but it's really hard to drop the Trojans out of the rankings based on how they've played the second half of the year. With the regular season over we could find out who their new coach will be. Ed Orgeron is the players and fans choice, but don't be surprised if the go elsewhere.
25. Georgia Bulldogs (8-4) LW NR
Injuries really hurt Georgia this season losing both RBs for multiple games and then playing Georgia Tech without four year starting QB Aaron Murray. However the Bulldogs rose up and got the win over in state rival to finish the season on the right note.
